As part of the Creative Engagement project, the Art department welcomed the artist Dara Lynn Lenihan and past pupil Naoe Timbang to work on several large scale murals for the Corneilan centre and the P.E hall. The artists were assisted by a talented team of students from a mix of years.
Students took inspiration from the Irish and European section of the Art History exam. We settled on two large scale portraits of Picasso and Vermeer’s painting of the girl with the pearl earring. To modernise our portraits we used the same painterly technique of a well known street artist called Banksey. The students worked tirelessly and the results were incredible.
The PE mural was another success. As basketball is such a popular sport in our school we wanted to reflect this in a super size mural. The two basketball players are wearing our school basketball colours and are painted in a cartoon style with acrylic paint. Well done to all involved.
