We are beginning a whole school Attendance Drive.
From Monday 20th November there are 25 school days remaining to the end of term.
The aim of "Strive for 25 " Attendance Drive is to encourage all students to have full attendance from Monday right upto the last day of term.
Why ? The research ( Kearney & Graczyk 2014) identifies the positive outcomes for students related to regular school attendance as :
- Academic achievement
- Language Development
- Social Skills
- Social relationships
- Emotional Skills
- Graduation from post primary school
-
As adults this then leads to:
- Higher employment and salaries
- Persistence
- Problem solving ability
- Ability to work in a group
The following guidelines/indicators of concern are interesting to note:
How will this Attendance Drive work ?
- As a whole school approach information re the importance of attendance and goal setting will take place in Wellbeing subjects!
- Attendance and Punctuality Merits will be given during reg
- Once students have received 10 merits they can then claim their prize from the Yearhead!
- They will then receive a ticket that will act as a raffle ticket to enter a draw for a trip!
- The raffle will take place on Friday 22nd December
- Prizes will be given on the 22nd December to all students who had 25 days of attendance
- TY and BFL students are working designing of posters and raffle tickets
- Daily announcements and reminders at assemblies will also take place
