Our Second Year students recently proved that they are as talented in the kitchen as they are in the classroom! Seven of our hardworking students traveled to the Plaza Hotel in Tallaght to participate in the prestigious JCSP "Make A Book" exhibition, accompanied by Ms. Kearney and Iona.
The event was the culmination of weeks of hard work with Ms. O'Loughlin and Iona, creativity, and - most importantly - plenty of delicious inspiration.
A Community Effort
The group proudly presented their original creation: A Book of Recipes from Holy Child Community School. This wasn't just a solo project; it was a true community effort. Over the past several weeks, our students have been busy gathering favorite dishes and secret family recipes from students and staff across the entire school.
Highlights from the Day
The exhibition was a vibrant celebration of student work from across the region. Our students didn't just display their book; they fully immersed themselves in the experience:
-
Public Speaking: Students took to the microphone to present their project to the audience. Despite the nerves, they spoke with incredible confidence and pride.
-
Creative Workshops: The day was packed with interactive arts and crafts sessions, allowing our students to explore new artistic skills.
-
A Festive Atmosphere: Between the presentations and the crafting, there was (of course!) plenty of great food to enjoy.
We Still Need Your Recipes!
While the exhibition was a huge success, the project is still growing! We want our cookbook to be as diverse and delicious as our school community.
Call to Action: If you have a favorite recipe—whether it's a family tradition, a quick snack, or a decadent dessert—we want it! Please send your recipes to the group so they can be included in the next phase of the book.
The pride felt by the students was palpable. They worked brilliantly as a group, representing Holy Child with maturity and enthusiasm. A huge congratulations to all involved for showcasing the heart (and the flavors) of our school!
