Prize Giving
This week we celebrated the achievements of so many of our students. Our prize giving day is the biggest day in our school calendar because it is here that we publicly recognise the achievements of those amongst us who strive to achieve our school motto "Beart ages Brithair - Actions and words"

Cornelia Connelly Junior Student of the Year Winner: Janelle Suitagnan
This 3rd Year student is a highly motivated learner. They are helpful and kind to their peers and to staff. They are enthusiastic about learning and bring great energy to class. They are funny. They are positive about all aspects of school life. They go above and beyond to complete their work. They are a role model for other students
Cornelia Connelly Senior Student of the Year Winner: Amy Meenan
The senior student of the year is a young woman who is extremely hard working. She is confident, articulate and ambitious, and acts as a great role model for her peers. She is hardworking and is even studying an extra subject for her Leaving Cert. She is a positive influence on her class, and helps others unconditionally. She is known for having the best flashcards notes. She is appreciative for any help she gets, and is an absolute pleasure to have in class.


Lola Heffernan Cup Winner: Hollie Lawlor
This award is named after a former Principal of the school, Lola Heffernan. This trophy is awarded to the student who has freely given of his/her time and talents to promote school activities. The qualities we look for when awarding this trophy are: generosity, enthusiasm and a positive attitude to school life.
This year’s winner has shown all of these qualities in every aspect of their school life, as well as in their contributions to the community around them. This student has acted as a strong and positive role model throughout their time here in Holy Child. This is a student who has always been positive about their school experience here. This student is more than grateful for their opportunities presented here ,the positive and nurturing relationships with teachers. Without doubt this is a student who has never been afraid to speak their mind and offer solutions in a practical and wise way beyond their years manner. This student has been committed, mature and dependable throughout all challenges faced. She has continued to show great determination and fortitude against challenges and achieve their goals.

1st Year
The winner of the Academic award in 1st year is the very well deserving, Julie Rezkalla .

The Spirit of Holy Child in 1st year is awarded to an eager, hardworking and enthusiastic student, Max Dunne.
Student of the Year Award:
This award is being given to the student whom teachers have described as an all round excellent student. This is a student who is eager to learn, has a great attitude, who very importantly has a great sense of humour .She has a super attitude towards learning and tries her best at everything. Poppy Centre
The first is someone who is committed to all sports, both inside and out of school. She is actively involved in swimming, gymnastics, horse riding, GAA to name but a few. Our second winner is someone who loves PE and the hall so much he even calls it the Leisureplex!

- Spirit of Holy Child Award
This is the prize that is awarded to two students from Poppy Centre who are described as having a very positive attitude towards all aspects of school life. Both of these students run off the bus and into school each morning with bundles of enthusiasm and big smiles on their faces. They greet everyone on the way with great big smiles and of course an elbow! Their enthusiasm is infectious and they pass this joy onto all their classmates, teachers and SNA’S. These two students have shown great resilience and strength throughout the year to keep the energy levels high in their respective classes and encouraging everyone to work and learn!

- Student of the Year Award
In Holy Child our motto is Actions and Words and Our Poppy Centre student of the year certainly lives up to this. They have been described as being courteous, polite and always ready to help…so helpful to the point of regularly helping Margaret in the office. They are someone who will always greet you with a smile on their face, is excited to be in school and loves a good dance…as long as the song is right!! They are described as someone who has a serious desire to learn and be the best they can be at all times. No task is too big for this student.They represent their peers on the Student Council and are an extremely positive role model for all students. This student is incredibly caring towards all her friends in the Poppy Centre and as a consequence they turn to her for help as they know she’ll be there for them.

This is being awarded to a student who has been described by their teachers as an excellent communicator, kind to their peers, confident, mature, respectful and very hardworking. The 6th Year student of the year tries their best at everything. They have a hunger to succeed and are always looking to improve. They have shown great dedication to their studies was often one of the last people to leave school in the evenings.
